The gaming industry has found yet another new way to enable you to play games from your powerful PC on other devices … only this time, all you need is the Google Chrome browser.
Nvidia’s GeForce Experience app, which enables a ton of extras for its GTX graphics cards, is testing a new feature that enables you to share your games with friends over the Internet. This capability works by streaming a game on your system over the Web to any Chrome browser. If your buddy wants to try the latest new release but has a PC with older hardware — or even a Mac — you can invite them over email, and they can start playing immediately.
Jul 05, 2017 Steam lets you stream from a Windows PC to another Windows PC, a Mac, a Steam Machine, a Steam Link device, or a Linux PC. So if you’re using one of those platforms, it’s a very good option. However, there’s no way to stream from Steam to an iOS or Android-based device, which Moonlight/GameStream can do.
This Nvidia functionality even works with co-op experiences. You and your friend or family member can both play simultaneously for two-player games. The only limits are that only one person can stream at a time, and the sessions are limited to an hour. But you can do as many sessions as you want.
If you have a GTX GPU, here’s how to do this:
From here, the invitee will have to go into their email to accept the invite and go through a process of installing a particular Chrome plugin. But that’s it — once installed, Chrome should broadcast the video without issue.
Keep in mind that this kind of streaming will require a decent Internet connection, and you’ll probably experience lag if one or both people don’t have the bandwidth.
